WAKISO – The District Inspector of Schools for Wakiso, Deogratius Kiyingi, has warned private schools to follow new guidelines proposed by the government on ensuring parents are not overcharged.
“All private schools must comply with new guidelines, we shall not spare closing down those found not complying with what the government has proposed,” Kiyingi said.
Kiyingi proposed that the management of private schools should allow parents to pay fees in instalments to avoid children missing education in this new era.
Kiyingi made the remarks while at Uphill Junior Academy on January 6, 2023, at Mubango village, Wakiso town council during his inspection of schools in the district.
He said he was impressed to see schools introducing computer skill training to pupils in lower classes and also skilling them in various fields.
The school term is set to open for this year’s calendar on 2nd February.
He reminded teachers that under the new policy, every teacher is required to have a Bachelors degree in education to teach in either primary or secondary school.
He said those who have not yet started working on their academic careers should do so with relevant institutions because time is running out.
John Bukenya, the proprietor of the school said they have come up with a new approach that will bring up children in a holistic manner.
Bukenya said a child after completing primary level should have a skill to earn a living in case he/she is unable to continue with education
